Paperlike - iPad Screen Protector
An iPad screen protector that makes drawing on iPad feel like paper & pen
One thing about drawing and writing on iPad with a stylus is that; although the technology is great and we can use it for many purposes, it still feels like gliding a pen across glass. There isn’t much resistance under the pen tip, and that makes a marked difference between using an iPad and paper/pen. Especially for people who struggle with pen control.
Enter Paperlike
Paperlike is a screen protector for iPad. We recommend using a screen protector anyway for our apps such as Hand Righter, but Paperlike serves more than that purpose.
Where Paperlike differs from other screen protectors is that it also has a slight texture to it - they call them Nanodots. When used with a stylus, that texture makes the stylus feel like it’s drawing on paper.
In addition to the tactile feedback of feeling the paper through the the fingers, the texture also makes the stylus sound like a pen drawing on paper, and so serves as a second form of feedback for our kids.
The texture also removes minimises reflections without reducing visibility.
Trust us - it’s fantastic.
We won’t go into the technology of how this works here. You can read more about their technology on their website.
The end result is a great product that we heartily recommend.
How much difference does it make?
It’s a complete Game Changer!
We’ve installed them on all of our in-house devices, and now recommend them as our preferred screen protector for our therapy apps.
Paperlike can only be purchased via their website - make sure you buy the right size for your iPad!
They’re a little more expensive than a standard screen protector - but the difference is well worth the money. You also get two Paperlike protectors in a pack, so you can swap them over if they take a hammering. So in effect, they work out only a little more expensive than a standard screen protector and offer huge benefits that other screen protectors can’t!
Paperlike’s marketing has an emphasis on artists and students, but the difference for our kids is huge. Anybody using a stylus on an iPad will feel the difference.
Paperlike also offer screen cleaning kits for keeping your screen in top condition and is well worth looking at, there are bundles available with both the screen protector and cleaning solution.
There are also some nice looking iPad covers, but we are yet to test them. If you get one, drop a comment and let us know what you think!
I can honestly say I was sceptical about it when Kev brought these to my attention, but I've been using them for two weeks now and the difference is amazing!! Complete an utter game changer when using this for therapy sessions with children who have proprioceptive (body awareness) difficulties! Before I was using the hand righter app to supplement what I was doing with the kids as it was a fun way of getting them to pick up a 'pencil'. Now I can use the app as much as I want as it feels just like writing on paper but with the additional fun and appeal of it being an app. Love love love this product!!!
Probably worth mentioning that we bought Paperlike products with our own money!
